Shopping for Golf Clothes Online ~ Getting The Perfect Fit

Let’s face it, sizes and fit can vary widely across different brands, and sending back the wrong size or fit can be a hassle when you are buying any kind of clothing online. Especially if you are planning a golf outing or trip where you are looking to get your clothing for a specific upcoming event or if you are buying a gift for someone.

With the coronavirus pandemic many of us turned to shopping online over going into our favorite local stores or golf pro-shop out of necessity and many of us will continue buying online due to the convenience of browsing online and having our items delivered straight to our door.

But the not so great part about shopping online, especially for clothing, is playing the guessing game of finding the right fit without first being able to try on before you buy. That amazing golf dress may have looked great on the model, but the proportions may be off for your body type or even your height.

Luckily, we have a few tips and tricks to help you find the perfect fit online. From taking measurements, to the choice of fabric, they all make a difference in getting the right size shipped to your door. Following these 3 tips below can really help cut down on the disappointment and pain of having to return an item.

Ordering the Right Size

1. Measure Yourself or Measure the Lay Flat Key Points On a Favorite Outfit
The first thing you need to do is measure yourself or if you are measuring for a family member or friend, try to get the lay flat measurements from their favorite outfit that is in a similar material (the amount of stretch in the material can make a huge difference). A size "Small" or size 4 in one brand may feel like an Extra Small or size 2 in another, so it’s important to go by your measurements rather than your actual clothing size.

Measure your bust, waist, hips and inseam for pants or length on Skirts/Dresses if necessary. You can do this by measuring around your chest for bust, around your belly button for waist, and around your hip bones for your hip measurements. Write down your measurements and keep them handy when you’re ready to start buying clothes online.   For lay flat measurements on a favorite outfit, measure across the bust area, waist and hips - even the length for pants and compare against the brand's measurements, keeping in mind the fit that the person you are ordering for likes.

For instance if they like fitted clothing the size you order will likely have a very similar measurement to their key points (a bit of stretch in the material will also likely be important as well), however if they like looser fitting clothes you may want to size up accordingly to give them a bit more room.

Getting Right Size

2. Refer to the Manufacturer Sizing Information & Item Descriptions
Most online stores like www.laateeda.com for instance have measurement charts for each style that you can refer to, giving you a better chance at picking the right size and fit for your body type and height.  When you’re spending money on items you can’t try on ~ Don’t ignore it – review the size charts as well as the product descriptions and be more confident in your size choices!

Before you start adding clothes to your online shopping cart, make sure you’re clear on the brand's sizing measurements and read the description for specific details on how to expect the item to fit. Even though you’re a 6 in one brand, it doesn’t mean you’re automatically a 6 in every brand. Some brands simply fit larger or smaller (some pieces have more stretch than others), so don’t rely on the size until you’ve read though the information on the website and determined which size would fit your body type, height and measurements best.

3. Order More Than One If You Really Aren't Sure
Never buy from an online clothing store that doesn’t have a good return policy like www.laateeda.com. Stay away from stores that don’t allow returns.

To avoid sizing issues especially if you are ordering clothes for a specific occasion, order two of the same style in different sizes from a website with a return policy you can live with. Then, send back the one that doesn’t fit. Just make sure the store offers refunds for returns, not store credit, so you get actual money back once you’ve returned the item.

Since brand sizing, stretch and fit can vary, always double check your measurements, read the item descriptions and the brand size charts.  Also check into the return policy before you place an order.  Keep the original tags on and bag with barcode to ensure you are being respectful of returning only items that have not been worn (only tried on for fit), so that the manufacture can easily restock the item.
