How To Wear Black & Navy

How To Wear Black & Navy

No matter what color is set to trend in the upcoming season,  Black and Navy are perhaps the most classic neutrals there are that will never go out of style for golf wear and everyday wear.  And while darker shades are usually associated with cooler months, black and navy can look very stylish as the weather starts to warm up where you are as well.

Why is BLACK the most popular fashion color in the world? Its WARDROBE 101 and there’s a reason so many of us wear it as the staple color in our clothing.

It is the reason the LBD (Little Black Dress), will always be the go-to when in doubt because it’s so easy and safe.  It is also the most visually slimming and helps to boost confidence in appearance.

Black is professional, serious and conventional, but it can also represent the mysterious, beautiful and sophisticated. It is a uniform of sorts and is sure to get you out the door, without any thought required.

However, if you’re a 50+ woman, black on black can be overwhelming, and look dreary or bland. So be cautious about picking out an all-black wardrobe if you think it’s the key to carefree chic.

One of the beauty's of Black and our reason of why it anchor's so many of our LaaTeeDa Sports styles, is the absence of color renders it neutral,  so it goes with nearly every color of the rainbow! Most neutrals look great together; think black and white, black and grey, white and beige, white and navy, navy and cream … you get the look. These colors typically make up the foundation of our wardrobes, so it’s only natural that we’d wear them together both in sports, like golf and in everyday wear.

There is one combination that is often overlooked and that is black and navy. The old fashionable rule that cautioned against wearing black and blue together (especially dark blue or navy) has no real merit.

Like black, navy carries a sense of elegance and sophistication. It also conveys  confidence, power, importance, and authority as well as intelligence and stability.

Whether you wear these colors in a single garment or combined in a head-to-toe stylish look, black and navy can look amazingly sophisticated and extremely chic together. It happens to also be a favorite combination of many European designers, it’s also dark without being gothic, and sleek without being too stuffy.

Navy has black in it, so really the two are perfect style companions. Whereas there are so many different shades and dye lots of navy, wearing navy with another navy (unless they are from the same color dye lot) can make them tricky to match.  So keep it simple and wear navy with black.

So be a rule breaker and create a style and look beyond the traditional, especially when you are picking out your golf wardrobe this year!  Every woman has black staples in her wardrobe ~  black jackets, black pants, black dress, black shirts, and, of course, black accessories like belts etc. But what every woman needs is to invest in a few key navy pieces as well, like our pull on Navy Golf Pants with side pockets

Another reason to take a risk with the color combination of Black and Navy, as we’ve recently discovered, is when you get to a certain age black on black can be a bit harsh against the face, making you look tired and washed out. Navy actually lifts skin tone, especially those who are starting to rock the grey hair!

Are you a fan of navy and black? Would love to hear from you.
